Trapped A Novel Private Justice Irene Hannon 9780800721244 Books

I love Irene Hannon books. The first Justice Book "Vanished" was my favorite so far. I liked this one and it was very good but not as well as the first one. However, I would still recommend it. The heroine is a librarian, Laura whose younger sister has run away. Laura hires Devlin from the Justice to be her private investigator and help her find her sister and get her home off the streets. The creepy guy who has taken in her sister is known pretty fast in the book. But what keeps you guessing is whether they will find her sister in time to keep her from becoming his latest murder victim. I am anxious to read the next book in this series by this wonderful writer.

Trapped A Novel Private Justice Irene Hannon 9780800721244 Books Reviews

Irene Hannon is one of the best suspense writers that I know. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat for many pages. Many authors tie up the story line in a neat, quickly tied bow. But this author or this book do not fit into that category. Of the 380 pages, the last 100 are the climax to the story. You may know that everything will turn out ok, but you just have to know how. Many times, I actually wondered if the final ending would be as I had imagined it. This book is not for the "faint of heart". The subject is very serious, but very real in today's world. There is a very valuable lesson in this book. That is Even the nicest of people can fool you and endanger your life. I stayed up all night just to finish the book. Now I need to read something more light-hearted.
I read this one right after reading 'Vanished', so I knew what I was in for. As was the case in the first of this series, the plot was pretty predictable in that the client and the private eye wound up falling in love. I've not read the last of this three part series, but if I do, I know good and well the client and the PI will hook up yet again. But the predictability of the book really isn't the problem here. Wading through all the 'sent looks' (from approximately three feet away), the fluttering hearts and increased blood flows, and the whiffs of perfume and after shave made this one pretty difficult to read. This one was just awful.
Another excellent story in the series. The second book in this series centers around a case Dev is working, in which Laura enlist his help to locate her runaway half sister Darcy. Darcy has lost both her mother and father and is taken in by Laura who she barely knows. Darcy doesn't like Laura's house rules and both of them are trying to find their way in this new living arrangement. Darcy decides to run away and ends up being befriended by a 'boy next door type' who ends up being the monster Laura was trying to protect her from. I also enjoyed the rest of the Phoenix Team and even Moria from the first book in this series in this in this story. Can't wait to read the next story.
I assume you have read the general description of the storyline. One of the things I like about this author is the knowledge and research she puts into her novels. The result is an intelligent, realistic story that places you right into the midst of the action. You'll find the Christian thread light to moderate, displayed through the character's lives and not preached to the reader. You'll also find excellent editing goes a long way in enhancing the reader's experience. Smooth transitions, natural conversation, clearly described scenes and characters that come to life are further elements that show this author has earned her high ratings. I recommend this book.
I found myself reading fast, not because I was so captivated by the story, but because I just wanted to be done. However, I didn't totally dislike the book but I didn't exactly like it either. I think the author has potential. Anyway, I didn't realize how heavy on the romance it would be and I got extremely tired of reading how people were so "hot". Also, with very little action and information actually given, characters were making statements about each other that could only accurately be made after more time had been spent together (how good the PI is at his job for example). The author never gives a complete explanation of the motives of the "bad guy". This book is okay for those who just want to read a fluff story but not for those who want to read a story with more substance. Oh, also, this book is really not Christian fiction, unless you take a broad view of the genre. It felt like the author just tacked on a bit of praying here and there and a few minor comments so that it could be categorized as Christian fiction. I suppose most people would consider it inspirational fiction (although I wouldn't, there was nothing "inspiring" about it). I gave it three stars because the rating system does not allow for 2 1/2 stars.
Holy cow! I have read a lot of books, and this one is one of THE BEST romantic suspense books I have ever read. I started this a little over 24 hours ago and was nearly impossible to put down. This is the 2nd book in the Private Justice series. Laura Griffith's 16 year old half sister, Darcy, has left a note on her bed indicating she is running away. Laura feels awful and thinks maybe her rules were too strict and resolves to get Darcy back. So she turns to the experts at Phoenix Inc, a PI agency in the area. This story focuses on James Devlin aka "Dev." He resolves to help Laura find her sister and they both have to brave an enormous snowstorm. Dev believes his number one suspect has a too clean slate and believes he needs to be investigated further but it is hard to do much as a P.I.with no evidence. This book was FANTASTIC and I wish I could give more than 5 stars! My heart was thumping and my feet were bouncing towards the end, such a nail biter! Great job Irene! I CANNOT wait to read Deceived!
